On Monday, Buckingham Palace announced that King Charles III has been diagnosed with cancer. In a statement, the institution explained that his condition was discovered when he was being treated for a benign prostate tumour at the London Clinic last month, although they have not identified what type of cancer it is.

The king has been absent from royal duties since announcing his prostate disease last month. Prior to the palace's announcement of his cancer diagnosis, he was expected to return to royal duties within a month.
In addition, on Sunday he was photographed attending church with Queen Camilla, and on Monday, he travelled from the Sandringham estate to his London home to begin outpatient treatment. In the statement, the palace also thanked the doctors who identified the king's condition and shared the reasons for the public announcement.
The news of King Charles III's cancer comes at the end of a month in which the royal family shared an unprecedented amount of information about his health. On 16 January, Kate Middleton underwent a scheduled abdominal surgery at the London Clinic; and on 22 January, Sarah Ferguson announced that she had been diagnosed with a form of skin cancer, after being diagnosed with breast cancer last summer.
