On Wednesday, Kensington Palace reported that Kate Middleton, Princess of Wales underwent a successful scheduled abdominal operation and will remain in hospital for up to 15 days.
Without specifying the cause of the problem, the offices of the Prince and Princess of Wales added that "the operation was successful" and that Prince William's wife will remain in hospital "for ten to fourteen days, before returning home to continue her recovery".
Kate Middleton "wishes to keep her medical information private and hopes the public understands her desire to keep things as normal as possible for her children", Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, aged 10, 8 and 5 respectively. "The Princess of Wales wishes to apologise to all those concerned for the fact that she has to postpone her upcoming engagements. She looks forward to reinstating as many as possible, as soon as possible", the royal statement concludes.
According to medical advice, 42-year-old Kate will resume her public duties after Easter. For his part, Prince William will postpone a number of engagements to support his family during this period, meaning he will not take up official duties while his wife recovers.
Although the statement did not provide details about the reason for the surgery, some portals speculate that it could be linked to an appendix or gall bladder problem.
