'Cupid's bow' lips: the latest trend for 2024

Despite being in the 21st century, this does not mean that some standards of beauty have been forgotten. Just as men are considered attractive when they have a split jaw and a very sensual mouth, so are women who have "cupid's bow" lips that accentuate a heart-shaped mouth. Fortunately, unlike men, there is the option of not having to undergo surgery to give the lips a seductive look.

As the name suggests, this aesthetic refers to the "V" that forms in the centre of the lips, which is compared to the bow that Cupid carries to flirt with lovers.

What are the different shapes of 'cupid's bow' lips?

• Undefined cupid's bow: the upper arch disappears almost completely, giving the mouth a round or oval look.

• Rounded cupid's bow: although the shape is not as visible and the thickness of the upper lip is subdued, with slight makeup tricks you can create more depth and make it more noticeable.

• Voluminous Cupid's bow: it is considered the most "perfect", this is because the lips are in harmony and the thickness is in accordance with the "V" shape of the upper part.

• Traditional Cupid's bow: this is the most marked of all. There is a perfectly drawn arch.

• Stretched lips: the upper lip is extremely thin and stretches out to the sides. It gives an appearance that the arch has several curvatures.

• Drooping lips: the shape of the arch is accentuated, while the sides push slightly downwards.

How to make the lips 'cupid's bow'?

• Step 1 - Moisturise and prep lips: exfoliating at least 1 or 2 a week will make all the difference. Before adding your lipstick, add a lip balm to moisturise.

• Step 2 - Contour: a sure-fire trick is to support your lips with a nude-coloured pencil that is very similar (or the same) to your skin tone. This helps to give the lips the shape we are looking for.

• Step 3 - Lip plumper: after contouring, it's time to give them an XL effect. For this beauty trick all you need is a lip plumper (lip gloss with a volumising effect), lightly line the outside and place a lighter colour in the centre.

This lip feature is often associated with seduction and attraction.
